What is the role of proportion & organization in architecture today? Are proportion & organization necessary for human habitation & functioning are they compositional strategies of drawing and design, some combination of these; or something else?

In my opinion, in this modern era, proportion and organization are necessary for human habitation and it still play an very important role in architecture, they are inseparable. Proportion and organization help in defining space with different quality. Through proportion and organization, it could gives a specific hierarchy which respect to the architecture and propose a flow of human, bringing in life to experience from spaces to spaces. Other than this, it also contribute in giving a basic reference of circulation where how architect arrange or lining up functional elements of a building in circuit.

Andrea Palladio use mathematic ratio to create proportion and his style of design tend to be symmetrical and more balanced which hiding the less aesthetic parts of the building. Unlike Palladio’s design, Le Corbusier is based on hid designs on a lifestyle stand point, the creation of the modern house for living , funtion based, and focus more on circulation. As what Le Corbusier once said “ To create architecture is to put in order. Put what in order? Function and objects.”

In a nutshell, architecture should consider in every qualities and concept and in conversation with numerous other elements of architecture.we should focus on the relationship between proportion and organization to the action and consequence of design to create specific experiences and meaning.

Spatial geometry, proportion and organization have been central discourse in architecture for centuries, but their hierarchical relationships among them have varied. They all play important role in today’s architecture but what are they? Organization is one of the way to determine the separation or connection between similar or dissimilar uses, helps to clarify aspects of use and establishes similarity or contrast between spaces while Proportion is the relationships between parts or things. In particular harmonious, proper or desirable relationship and the balance of symmetry.

From Andrea Palladio’s text The Four Books of Architecture and Le Corbusier’s The Plan of the Modern House we learned that the main difference between two this two architects is the style of their design, where Palladio is more symmetrical and Le Corbusier is assymetrical, which both contribute to how the buildings were organized and proportioned.

In 21st century architecture, Proportion may be use to imply different uses like long, low, narrow space. Is likely to suggest movement, while a space that is more cubic, more equal in length, height and width. Proportion is also a connection between numbers and drawings. A visual effect of the relationship of the various object and spaces that make up a structure to one another and a whole. Besides that, it also insinuates repose or provoke certain human affects, a sense of bigness or smallness. Organization is where buildings involves dividing interior spaces into various rooms that have their own purposes. For example, a home may have a kitchen for cooking, a bedroom for sleeping and a closet for storage.

It has a free plan , free facade ,flat roof, one main entrance. A fixed circulation was created ,by the organisation of every spaces and columns, the building is proportional , sizes ratio between spaces are reasonable , A perfect match on balancing the mathematics and aesthetic.

4 Springs Lane designed by Robert M. Gurney Architect is one of the example of modern architecture which applied organization and proportion. The inner organisation of the house is divided in four areas, a public and a private part. The house is organized as a series of volumes, arranged linearly and positioned to optimize distant views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The linear organization allows the majority of spaces to maintain mountain views while providing accessibility to a terrace with the swimming pool and the manicured area.
