ABOUT THE TOPIC
-BODY AND LANDSAPCE AS A WAYS OF SEEING
In the talk, the topic was mainly talked about the idea of trying to retain those kind of old houses which are still in Taiwan with different way of architecture. Because he observed that, something lacking in the Taiwan cities and he want to create a thing that let human view and feel the cities. Besides that, he also discussed about his particular project and how he try to connect the people, environment and also the space through the project of urban archipelago which we called it as moving architecture. This project within year 2016 and keep going. This project of urban archipelago is a drifting platform that fill the urban spaces. The fresh architecture scale is use to develop to drift and change between the body, the city and the landscape, transforming engagement, or to stimulate society sensitivity of a history and memory.
About the project-
Urban Archipelago Projects (NO.1-3)
Project No.1 Time Machine
名人画报屋
Project No.2 Memory House
家庭故事屋
Project No.3 Exhibition Hall
时光摄影棚
In the beginning, for the first three Urban Floating Islands is to incite the loss of physical senses when living in an urban environment. These three islands also mainly play the roles to revitalize the forgotten and neglected corners in the street. Besides that, each three are also the new “conjunction” of the city where to gathers. The conjunction is to create a bizarre and even morbid urban landscape to discuss the tension and vitality of time and materiality.
Urban Archipelago Projects (NO.4)
Project No.4 Science Garden
水川故事屋
The 4th urban floating island was located at the Zhu Bei river in Taiwan. The place rapid developments along the rivers have slowly overtaking the river, which mean reclamation works on the river have replaced the river. The intension of Eric is to make something invisible visible. That have a roof garden that tried to bring kids into vegetables plantation.
Urban Archipelago Projects (NO.5-6)
Project No.5 Moving Garden
Project No.6 Voice House
Moving Garden. This project is incorporated into a hospital at Lu Gang town. He mentioned that there are 30% of elderly people in Taiwan, this assemble act as a caring system to take care of either ill or health. The Moving Garden are also separated into three compartments, first, garden area, second, the rooms and lastly the big table area. He also said a sentences that make me inspired the most “ Nature is the medicine. The green around us actually cures diseases.”
Urban Archipelago Projects (NO.7-9)
Project No.7 Wind House
风光屋
Project No.8 Moving Garden
植生屋
Project No.9 Water House
遗光屋
These three projects are actually to challenge the relationship of the environment and human body. it consonant with the natural and power of human, amount of power between the two is the conflict, adaption is imitation and it is also a destruction. Wind house mainly is storing power around the ocean line. And Moving Garden is a portable garden with power and water collected from No7 and 9. And the Water House is capture the raining water surround the ocean line.
Urban Archipelago Projects (NO.10)
The 10th project is a landscape reconstruction, it a last project of the series. This project is in the genealogy network of the collection and archival re-production, the urban archipelago projects is aggregated and renamed integrally, forming the internal relationship and the connection relation with each other, and cooperating with various experts and scholars and artists to form a multi-level landscape construction, towards a temporary settlement generation.
In a nutshell, the talk is very inspiring me and I learned a lot of thing mostly about how architecture extend to what kind of possibility. I know that Eric is try he best to emphasising the actions and the engagement with the people to make all these thing become more meaningful by using different kind of way.
